The Paolini family has reached an agreement for the sale of VIPA Group to HEXPOL
The Paolini family has entered into an agreement for the sale of VIPA Group, an Italian developer and manufacturer of high-quality thermoplastic compounds for the Wire & Cable industry, to HEXPOL AB, a leading supplier of advanced polymer compounds and engineered polymer solutions.
Founded in 1969 by Vincenzo Paolini and headquartered in Ancarano, Italy, VIPA Group has evolved into one of Europe’s leading specialty compounders, combining strong technical expertise, above-market profitability and a long-standing focus on innovation. The Group operates two well-invested production facilities and a state-of-the-art R&D centre. In 2025, VIPA Group generated revenues of EUR 76.4 million and employed approximately 80 people. The transaction includes the entire VIPA Group, comprising VI.PA. S.r.l. and VIPA Polimeri S.r.l. The Paolini family will support the transition to HEXPOL ownership during a period of 18 months while the current CEO, Nicola Vigolo, will continue to manage the company as a subsidiary within the HEXPOL structure.
HEXPOL AB, the Nasdaq Stockholm-listed global polymers group headquartered in Malmö, Sweden, is a leading supplier of advanced polymer compounds and engineered polymer solutions. HEXPOL serves a diversified global customer base across the automotive, construction, energy, transportation, cable, medical and industrial sectors generating SEK 19.3 billion (approximately EUR 1.7 billion) of sales in 2025 and employing approximately 5,000 people worldwide.
The Group has built a strong track record combining organic growth with disciplined strategic acquisitions, further strengthening its global market positions and expanding its portfolio of high-performance polymer solutions.
“We are very pleased to have found a new industrial owner for VIPA Group that is committed to continuing and further developing our activities in the region while upholding our policy of sustainable development”, says Stefano Paolini, Chairman of the Board and member of the founding family of VIPA Group. “HEXPOL has demonstrated deep knowledge about the business and a willingness to further invest and develop the Groupmy family has built over more than half a century. We would like to thank all the collaborators and workers who have allowed us and our companies to reach the goals we have achieved. The Group’s heritage will continue, and our employees will be part of a group with a strong future”, summaries Stefano Paolini.
“The acquisition of VIPA Group marks an important step in executing the growth strategy for the new business area Thermoplastics Compounding that was presented at our Capital Markets Day in November 2025. It also demonstrates our ambition to build a leading thermoplastics platform through both organic growth and acquisitions, says Peter Rosén, acting CEO and CFO. VIPA Group brings leading positions in Wire & Cable, strong material expertise and exposure to long-term structural growth drivers such as electrification and data centers, ends Peter.
The transaction further enhances HEXPOL’s Thermoplastics Compounding platform by increasing the Group’s scale and capabilities in the Wire & Cable segment. Following completion of the acquisition, HEXPOL’s subsidiaries HEXPOL Izmir and HEXPOL Vilafranca will be integrated into the Thermoplastics Compounding business area, further strengthening the Group’s dedicated thermoplastics offering.
The acquisition is expected to close during the third quarter of 2026.
